What are the differences between an article, a classified ad and a business ad?

Articles are presented in text-only form and are subject to editing. We welcome articles from any non-profit organization. Although they may mention locations of special non-profit events, articles can not contain information which solicits business. Classified ads (also known as min-ads) are presented in the last part of the newsletters and contain mostly items for sell by owner (items purchased with the intent of profit or being sold by an agent or business will not be accepted). Business ads can be purchased in a variety of areas and sizes and will appear randomly. Anyone can place a business ad, however, we reserve the right to refuse publication.

Where do you get your mailing lists?

We receive many of our mailing lists directly from the neighborhood or other organizations. Others are compiled from tax records. Under no circumstances do we sell or share our mailing or client lists.

I live in a neighborhood whose newsletter is published by Krenek Printing, but I have not received a copy. How do I get added to a mailing list? Can I be added to a neighborhood that I do not live in?

We can only send newsletters to residents whose box is in the post office line of travel. We are unable to send copies to any other address. If you should be receiving a copy, please contact us with your address and subdivision.

Will Krenek Printing newsletters ever be printed in color?

Probably not. We feel that we are able to offer a better product in black and white. The cost is lower allowing us to print a larger book at less cost to the advertiser. If we went color, the cost would rise, the size of the papers would be smaller resulting in less articles and community information (which is the purpose of the newsletter) and less advertisement (which offer a variety of service providers as well a chance for small businesses to emerge).

Who do I contact for questions or comments about my neighborhood?

Although we are proud to serve your neighborhood, we are in no way affiliated with your neighborhood board or management company. Most of our newsletters contain an 'important Numbers' section with association phone numbers as well as other useful contact information. It is usually located on either the inside or outside of the front or back cover of the newsletter.

How do we have Krenek Printing do a newsletter in our subdivision?

We are currently expanding our operation to take in new subdivisions in our coverage area. If you want to have a Krenek newsletter in your subdivision, tell a member of your HOA and/or call us to see if this is possible. We cover a limited area.

What if the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday?

In this case, we will usually move the deadline to the last business day before the weekend or holiday on which the deadline would usually fall.

How much does it cost to advertise?

The cost of advertising varies based on the size of the ad, number of areas and applied discounts. More information is available in the Price List or on the Advertising Info page.

How do I place a business ad?

For the fastest service, download the price list and fill out the 'Account Information' form. Fax it to us and give us a call. Have the size, areas and information you would like to place in your ad ready. (We'll do the layout for free when you run an ad). Please contact us by phone at 281-463-8649 any time during business hours, or email us at ads@krenekprinting.com.

What size ads are available? What is the printable size of the ads?

Ad sizes may be expressed rounded to the nearest whole inch. The ad sizes (and their actual dimensions) are listed as W x H: 2 x 4 (1.75" x 4" or 3.75" x 2), 3 x 4 (2.75" x 4 or 3.75" x 3), 4 x 4 (3.75" x 4"), Quarter Page (3.75" x 5 or 4.75" x 4), Third Page (7.7" x 3" or 3.75" x 6"), 4 x 8 (3.75" x 8" or 7.7" x 4"), Half Page (3.75" x 10.25" or 7.7" x 5"), and Full Page (7.7" x 10.25").

Will you layout an ad for me?

Yes. If you are running an ad in any of our newsletters, we will layout your ad with the information you provide at no additional charge.

What if I want to do it myself or have someone else do my ad? What format should my ad be in?

We can accept ads in almost any vector format. We prefer not to accept raster files. Please call for more information.

Why is there a waiting list for some areas?

In the past few years, some areas of our community have expanded drastically resulting in an overwhelming amount of new businesses. In order to maintain a presentable newsletter and serve the community to which it belongs, we must place new advertisers on a waiting list for some areas.

How does the waiting list work? How do I get on the waiting list?

It is impossible to determine how many ads will be placed in these areas until after the deadline. Then, we place the currently booked ads and decide how many, if any, new ads we can accept. Customers on the list are then added to the newsletter according to size and the length of their wait. If a customer is unavailable or does not wish to advertise at that time, they will be REMOVED from the list.

Do I have to fill out the entire 'Account Information' form?

We require the basic information on the top of the form to create all accounts. The financial information located in the box in the center is optional. We require payment in advance for all new accounts, but we are able to offer net 30 terms if we receive the financial information in the center. This information is filed away and only used in collections cases. We will also require your signature.

What is the deadline to place a business ad in Hwy 6 area newsletters?

Business ads for the Hwy 6 area must be received, with the account in good standing, by the 12th of the month preceding publication.

What is the deadline to place a business ad in the Katy area newsletters?

Business ads for the Katy area must be received, with the account in good standing, by the 25th of the month preceding publication. The date printed on the newsletter will be the month following publication. (For example, Jan. 25th is the deadline for March issue which is delivered at the end of February)

How are ads placed? Can I pay for special placement?

Ads are placed randomly. We try very hard to rotate the ads each month to offer fair treatment of all our customers. However, due to ad size limitations and the impossibility of keeping track of each ad placement in every newsletter, we can not guarantee placement of your ad. Also, for this reason, we have discontinued the practice of paid placement. We still allow customers who paid for placement before the end of this practice to maintain that placement until they stop running their ad. They will no longer receive special placement if they miss a month.

Why am I receiving a newsletter that I did not advertise in?

Once a month, we distribute a different newsletter to all business on our mailing list. This is just a way to show customers the different newsletters we do and to remind inactive customers that we're still out there.
